Whale Watching and Beaches
Just a few minutes drive from Bodhi Khaya are some of the most spectacular beaches on the Whale Coast. In near-by De Kelders there is a wide stretch of coast line that is protected as a National Nature Reserve. Each year between the months of July and November, this beautiful bay is home to hundreds of Southern Right Whales who spend the months playing with their newborn calves. To sit on the rocks at De Kelders and watch these stunning mammals in the water is truly a wonderful experience.
A short 15 min drive from Bodhi Khaya is the "whale watching capital of the world" that is Gansbaai, a traditional fishing village and bustling, vibrant centre for the surrounding farms.
Almost equi-distant in the other direction is the charming heritage village of Stanford. Established by Sir Robert Stanford in the 1800s, there are many heritage buildings, coffee shops, restaurants and galleries to explore.
Both Stanford and Gansbaai offer visitors a long list of activities - from wine tasting, and other cullinary delights, to quad biking, hiking and even scenic flights!
